The Islamic ruling on traveling to and visiting the graves of the Prophets and the righteous

The Shaykh says:

“Indeed, I have been informed of what is transpiring between the noble great scholar Ṣaaliḥ bin Fawzaan bin ‘Abdillaah Al-Fawzaan, member of the Council of Senior Scholars, and the people who differ with him on the subject: ‘Traveling to the grave of the Prophet.’ I saw which of their words contradicted the truth and that which has been confirmed by the pious predecessors. I saw that they cannot provide any correct evidence from the Qur’an or the Sunnah, nor from the statements of the early imams of Islam and the people of the chosen generations, but that they merely adhere to errors of those who came later. People who have no evidence, not from the texts of the Qur’an and the authentic narrations, not from the statements or actions of the pious predecessors, headed by the Companions and their followers in righteousness, and thus also not from the statements of the people who possess knowledge and guidance, among them the four imams…”
