The Three Fundamental Principles of Islam and their proofs

This book – The Three Fundamentals – is undoubtedly one of the most well-known books in the Islamic world. It addresses three questions that will be asked of us all in the grave.

When a person is buried and the people walk away from his grave, two angels come to him. They will ask him these three questions: Who is your Lord? What is your religion? And who is your Prophet?

The believer will answer: ‘My Lord is Allaah, my religion is Islam, and my Prophet is Mohammad – peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him.’

The disbeliever or the hypocrite will be unable to say anything more than: ‘Uh… Uh… I do not know. I heard the people saying something and I repeated it after them.’

The above therefore explains the importance of this book. It addresses the answers to these fundamental questions, which everyone must be able to answer.

Since many students memorize the Arabic text of this book, we have decided to include it in the book. An attempt has been made to have the Arabic text run more or less parallel to the Dutch translation.
