About this product
This bowl is made of Tamegroute pottery: green glazed earthenware from the small village of Tamegroute in southern Morocco. The bowl is handmade using centuries-old techniques, so every piece is unique.
Features
- Handmade earthenware bowl with green glaze
- The green color is created by a combination of manganese, silicon, and a small amount of copper
- Bubbles, scratches, color variations in the green, and small spots in the glaze are inherent to the craftsmanship
- On almost every piece, you can see the characteristic scar from stacking in the kiln
About Tamegroute pottery
The craft of making Tamegroute pottery is known to only 7 families in the village. Each family has its own kiln and workshop. Because the kilns are not large enough for everything produced, the pieces are stacked on top of each other in the kiln, with spacers at three points. As a result, almost every Tamegroute product has a small scar.
