About this product
Free will and predestination is an important and very interesting subject of discussion in all religions and philosophies. Belief in good and bad destiny is an inevitable part of the Islamic creed. A number of scholars discussed the subject in detail and a number of schools of thought emerged, even among Muslims.
Dr. ‘Umar Sulayman Al-Ashqar finally addressed the subject in the last volume of his ‘Aqidah book series (concerning the creed). As usual, he has discussed the subject in-depth and, as with the other books, equipped it with texts from the Qur'an & Sunnah, adding the writings of classical authors and pious predecessors where necessary.
Dr. ‘Umar Al-Ashqar has thoroughly studied this subject for years, and in this book he explains it in clear terms for the ordinary Muslim. While citing the Qur'an & Sunnah and the words of great scholars such as Ibn Taymiyyah, he examines the subject of divine will and predestination. He discusses some of the historical debates that took place within the Ummah on this subject and explains where the groups that were mistaken went wrong, while clarifying the correct position, namely that of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah.
