The Telephone and the Rules for Its Use

The religious rules concerning the telephone were derived from the jurisprudence regarding what is appropriate during visits, when asking for permission, when taking the floor, and in conversation with others, taking into account the time, the place, their relationship, or the nature of the conversation.

All of this is well-known or holds this status in the texts of the pure Law (Sharia). All these rules also belong to the register of virtues and favors to which Islam calls, in order to build the life of the Muslim on merit and honor, and also on distinguished and noble conduct. Moreover, all these rules are based on kindness, gentleness, and the fact of taking the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as an example in this blessed and sublime Sharia.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, kindness is not in a matter without it making it more beautiful, and is not taken away from a matter without making it uglier." He also said: "If kindness is taken away from someone, all goodness is taken away from him."
